Abstract Work

Picture
Compassion Fatigue

In this series, I create eccentric abstraction, layering loose lines and ladders against washes of dissonant contrasting colors against large areas of empty space. While creating off-balance and complex compositions my work sheds light on how I feel in a constant compassion fatigue.

Abstract Freedom

Picture
Series: Abstract Freedom

Abstract Freedom consisted of six wood panels and was inspired by the (then) current restraints of socializing, explores new adventure, confidence and courage. Painting and mark making gives me a sense of freedom that I often see in the eyes of my students. Without thinking young children just make. They have a natural reaction to paint that I observe and want to feel. By adding layers of paint, chalk, gloss, and marker pens on wood I felt a sense of a freedom in joy.
